Beach clean-ups

Small Change has helped our community remove no less than 3.6 metric tonnes of plastic through beach clean-ups.

Beach clean-ups comprise of several teams and functions working together to clean parks, beaches and shallow water areas, which are susceptible to waste accumulation. This makes them an ideal team building exercise for corporate and educational clients alike. Safety gear is provided, and all participants are given a thorough briefing as well as a post-clean-up debrief to unpack their experience. Beach clean-ups provide a rare combination of community contribution, sustainability education and team work and organisations will be provided with a report including photography, the types of debris they cleared and the amount of waste that was pulled out of the ocean.

Beach clean-ups can be tailored to group capabilities or needs. We facilitate snorkelling and SCUBA clean-ups and can organise gamified clean-ups, which include scavenger hunts and competitions to engage and challenge participants — particularly useful for engaging younger groups.

We also offer the option of a nature trail as an additional add on, allowing participants to end the day with a relaxing, reflective and informative walk through intertidal zones or mangroves forests — see our page on nature walks for more details.
